In an attempt to resolve my new year’s resolutions, I gathered some friends to go playing basketball. I was looking for all basketball courts in Rotterdam. I noticed Google Maps nor the municipality of Rotterdam offers this overview. Though, I stumbled upon rotterdamopendata.nl, where all outdoor sports attributes were listed in a database dump file. I decided to translate all data and project it on the map of Rotterdam. It got me a very precise view of where all basketball courts are, and even all outdoor chess boards.

So far I have not used it for any commercial purposes or promoted this page. Though, it’s on my todo-list, because I believe it can help people to find cool spots. I mean, did you know there is a frisbee court very close to the Van Nelle Factory?
